AWS EC2 Instance Windows*- Unable to PING?

If you do not like how things are, change them (Jim Rohn)

My experience on the latest Windows AMI Images in AWS was troublesome. I wonder AWS has not mentioned about this in any of their blogs/website.

Check this out…

Let me log in to the AWS Management console.

Removed my credentials information

Select EC2 Service, and click Launch Instances. Proceed with the default settings.

Windows Server 2019 Base Image
Public IP is enabled

At this time, I have selected “ALL TRAFFIC” [NOTE: Not a best practice to Allow all incoming traffic to any port.]

Let me try to ping the host from my machine. No response. NO LUCK!!!

Troubleshooting Steps:

Connect to Windows Server box.

Search for Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security”.

Click on Inbound Rules.

Look for Actions and select New Rule.

Select Custom.
Select All Programs.
Choose ICMPv4 under Protocol Type.
Any IP address.
Allow the connection.
Check all the options.
Green check states successfully enabled.

Here’s the result from my local machine: [NOTE: IPv4 is already destroyed]
